That urgency sets the tone for the Global Africa Business Initiative\u2019s Unstoppable Africa 2025 conference<\/strong>, to be held 21\u201322 September in New York alongside the UN General Assembly. With the theme \u201cThe Big Push: Africa Shapes the Markets\u201d<\/em>, the forum positions Africa not as a peripheral player but as a decisive force shaping tomorrow\u2019s global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Africa Defines the Moment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At a media briefing, Sanda Ojiambo, UN Assistant Secretary-General and head of the UN Global Compact<\/strong>, emphasized that the stakes go beyond regional prosperity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe markets will be defined by Africa\u2019s trajectory. Africa is unstoppable. The continent is at the centre of so many opportunities. The event, co-convened by the United Nations and the African Union Commission, will be hosted by UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres and African Union Chair Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. It is considered the premier African business platform outside the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Big Push: Trade, Energy, Youth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The agenda focuses on sectors with transformative potential: infrastructure, digital connectivity, renewable energy, and intra-African trade. Central is the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), projected to boost intra-African trade by 45% by 2045 and reduce dependence on external markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Africa\u2019s assets are well documented: lithium and cobalt critical for clean energy supply chains, vast solar and wind resources, fertile land, and the world\u2019s youngest population. The challenge\u2014and opportunity\u2014is to move up the value chain by manufacturing domestically and regionally, developing industries that serve both local consumers and global partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
