This target emphasizes mobilizing resources from all sources, calling for innovative finance mechanisms that bridge government strategy and private investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-introducing-the-living-amazon-mechanism\">Introducing the Living Amazon Mechanism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One such mechanism is the <strong>Living Amazon Mechanism (LAM)<\/strong>\u2014a model featured in the latest guidebook by <em>Revenues for Nature (R4N)<\/em>, a global project by the Green Finance Institute Hive in collaboration with UNDP BIOFIN and UNEP FI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>LAM blends below-market credit with grant-funded technical assistance to help rural producers develop nature-positive businesses in the Amazon. <em>\u201cBy mobilizing investment directly into the Amazon biome,\u201d <\/em>the <strong>guidebook notes<\/strong>, <em>\u201cLAM is paving the way for impactful solutions ahead of COP30\u2014and demonstrating how finance can drive real change for nature globally.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-overcoming-barriers-in-the-bioeconomy\">Overcoming Barriers in the Bioeconomy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Investing in the Amazon bioeconomy comes with unique challenges\u2014small deal sizes, unclear land tenure, long return periods, and low collateral. Living Amazon Mechanism (LAM) addresses these by combining financing with capacity-building, helping local cooperatives unlock the region\u2019s economic potential while preserving ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023\u20132024 LAM pilot supported over a dozen cooperatives across Par\u00e1, Amazonas, Amap\u00e1, and Rond\u00f4nia, producing goods such as a\u00e7a\u00ed, palm heart, and cocoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-global-blueprint-for-nature-positive-finance\">A Global Blueprint for Nature-Positive Finance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UNEP FI encourages its members to adapt LAM for other biodiversity hotspots.
