Charting a New Path: The Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity Takes Shape through the Launch of Key Partnerships

PVBLIC Foundation is proud to share that today the Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity (DBRP) was officially unveiled at The University of the West Indies (UWI) in Jamaica. 

Executive Chairman of the PVBLIC Foundation Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, emphasized that “Today is a turning point in history. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in global development—one where resilience, next-generation technologies, and Real-World Natural Assets drive progress.”

The DBRP aims to be a groundbreaking financial institution addressing the unique challenges faced by vulnerable and developing economies. With a mission to foster climate resilience, promote sustainable economic development, and advance beyond-GDP concepts and metrics, the DBRP is designed to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that cater specifically to the needs of its focus regions.

During the event, Dr. Gene Leon, Executive Director of the DBRP, stated, “The DBRP is a bank for today and tomorrow.” Dr Leon further indicated that collaboration with governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society is central to the DBRP’s strategy. The concept of a new “Partnership for Prosperity and Planet” (PPP) was highlighted.

Leaders In Discussion

The convening welcomed prominent leaders and stakeholders to discuss the bank’s mission and vision including Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor (UWI), H.E. Aubrey Webson, Ambassador to the United Nations for Antigua and Barbuda; Professor David Tennant, Professor of Development Finance (UWI); Dr. Nekeisha Spencer, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics (UWI); the Hon. P.J. Patterson, Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Statesman-in-Residence (UWI); H.E. Dr. Didacus Jules, Director-General, Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OESC); Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Executive Chairman of PVBLIC Foundation; Thomas Coughlin, Chief Executive Officer (Kinesis); and Dr. Gene Leon, Executive Director, Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity.

In addition to the event, an interactive workshop for graduate students was facilitated by Dr. Gene Leon. This session explored the DBRP’s initiatives, highlighting opportunities related to sustainable development, climate resilience, and development finance.
