Chaudhury to Shape Global Sustainability in Insurance

Amita Chaudhury, Group Head of Sustainability at AIA Group Limited, has been appointed Vice Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), the largest collaborative effort between the UN and the insurance sector.

In her new role, Chaudhury will shape the global strategy and work programme of the PSI, enhancing the insurance industry’s role in creating resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities and economies.

Strategic Vision for PSI

Announcing her appointment, Chaudhury shared on LinkedIn:

“Happy to share that I have taken on additional responsibility as the Vice Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) hashtag#PrinciplesforSustainableInsurance (PSI), the largest global initiative between the UN and the insurance industry, in addition to my current role as Group Head of Sustainability at AIA.”

She further emphasized:

“I look forward to working with the PSI Board and the Secretariat in shaping the global strategy and work programme of the PSI to strengthen the insurance industry’s contribution to building a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future for communities and economies on a healthy planet.”

A Proven Leader in Sustainability

At AIA, Amita Chaudhury spearheads sustainability initiatives across Asia, embedding environmental and social responsibility into the company’s core strategy, promoting healthier lives and long-term stakeholder value.

Before her tenure at AIA, Amita Chaudhury served as Senior Advisor for Sustainability at the UN Global Compact, seconded from Unilever. Her experience at Unilever also included significant leadership roles, notably as Global Director and Head of Sustainable Business for South East Asia and Australasia.
