Driving Global ESG Strategy
Carrie Sabin serves as Senior Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Stantec, where she leads enterprise-wide ESG strategy, reporting directly to the C-Suite and presenting regularly to the board. She oversees global ESG performance, disclosures, ratings, and compliance with frameworks including GRI, TCFD, and SASB.
Under her leadership, Stantec participates in the UN Global Compact and Women’s Empowerment Principles and has been listed on the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index since 2020. The company’s environmental management system is ISO 14001-certified, with near-term 1.5°C emissions reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.

Sabin has positioned Stantec as an ESG leader, maintaining top ratings across investor-driven systems such as MSCI, Refinitiv, ISS ESG, Sustainalytics, and S&P Global. Stantec has also consistently ranked in the top 10 on Corporate Knights’ World’s Most Sustainable Companies and maintained an A- CDP score for five consecutive years.
Her achievements earned her recognition as one of the Top 100 Women in Sustainability by Sustainability Magazine in 2023.
Career and Global Impact
Before joining Stantec in 2016, Sabin spent nearly nine years at MWH Global, most recently as Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility. She coordinated global CSR programs and change management initiatives, working with teams across Argentina, Bahrain, Brunei, Chile, China, India, Panama, Peru, Qatar, the UAE, and the U.S.
With more than three decades of experience, an MBA in international business, a master’s certificate in sustainability, and Envision Sustainability Professional certification, Sabin combines operational expertise with a commitment to climate action and social equity.
