Ambassador Ilana Seid has represented Palau in various high-level diplomatic capacities, including as Palau’s first non-resident Ambassador to Israel and as a key speaker at influential global events, such as the Indo-Pacific Islands Dialogue organized by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. In January 2024, Ambassador Seid significantly contributed to Palau becoming the first country to ratify the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ), reaffirming Palau’s global leadership in marine biodiversity and sustainability.
Her distinguished diplomatic role was also highlighted when she served as a principal foreign guest at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in May 2024.
In her critical role as Chair of AOSIS, Ambassador Ilana Seid will leverage her financial acumen to mobilize critical investments and partnerships necessary for island nations confronting severe climate impacts.
