Our message is clear: we are determined to safeguard the long-term sustainability of shared fish stocks and protect European fishers from unfair competition,\u201d<\/em> said <strong>Jacek Czerniak, Polish State Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clearer-rules-stronger-enforcement\">Clearer Rules, Stronger Enforcement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The revised framework introduces more transparent criteria for identifying third countries that allow or enable harmful fishing practices. Key updates include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A clarified definition of &#8220;failure to cooperate&#8221; in joint fisheries management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A list of non-cooperative actions, such as exclusion from consultations or failure to enforce necessary control measures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Penalties for countries imposing discriminatory quotas or actions that degrade fish stocks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a country acts outside established international cooperation structures\u2014such as Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs)\u2014and jeopardizes fish stocks, the EU may now respond more decisively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-commitment-to-international-cooperation\">Commitment to International Cooperation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The updated rules emphasize diplomacy and engagement.
