The publication marks a major expansion of the NGO\u2019s efforts to bring scientific rigor and sustainable development to the fast-growing engineered CDR space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cEngineered removals are essential to achieving a 1.5\u202f\u00b0C pathway. We have certified biological CDR solutions for two decades; now we are applying that same integrity and collaborative approach to engineered CDR,\u201d<\/em> said <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgnews.com\/ru\/gold-standard-ceo-margaret-kim-champions-credible-impact-for-sdgs-and-paris-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Margaret Kim<\/a><\/strong>, CEO of Gold Standard. <em>\u201cWe invite developers to use these requirements and work with us to build new methodologies and deliver durable projects that benefit local communities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-strengthening-carbon-market-integrity\">Strengthening Carbon Market Integrity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The framework defines core requirements for projects aiming for Gold Standard certification, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reversal risk mitigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mandatory buffer contributions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sustainable development safeguards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These align with major international efforts like the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework, ICAO CORSIA, Paris Agreement Article 6.4, and evolving national regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cAs companies move towards net zero, best practice frameworks are increasingly recognising that carbon removals must complement emissions reductions,\u201d<\/em> said <strong>Dr Fiona Perera<\/strong>, Manager, Methodology Development &amp; Innovations at Gold Standard. <em>\u201cAccurate measurement and the responsible use of removal credits are essential to uphold integrity in this rapidly growing sector.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-and-updated-methodologies\">New and Updated Methodologies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold Standard also announced updates and progress across its engineered CDR methodologies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Carbon Mineralisation using Reactive Mineral Waste<\/strong> (with Neustark): Broader baseline settings and mineral waste scope<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Biomass Fermentation with Carbon Capture and Geologic Storage<\/strong> (with Summit Carbon): Enhanced leakage options and wider eligibility for CO\u2082 sources, including BECCS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both methodologies (Version 2, June 2025) are under review by the <strong>Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market<\/strong> for alignment with the Core Carbon Principles.
