In a pivotal gathering that took place during Earth Week, Earthx2024 emerged as a critical platform for environmental leaders from across the globe to discuss, deliberate, and devise strategies aimed at safeguarding our planet and its vulnerable communities. The annual event organized by EarthX in Dallas, Texas, was buzzing with the spirit of collaboration as world leaders, experts, policymakers, activists, and industry executives came together to find common ground and amplify groundbreaking solutions for environmental sustainability.

Earthx2024 stood out as a truly unique event where diverse voices from different corners of the world converged to share insights and innovations. This gathering was not just about presentations; it was a dynamic forum for the exchange of ideas that transcend geographical and political boundaries. Keynote speeches from Heads of State and youth climate leaders to Republican, Democratic, and Independent political officials underscored the urgency of global cooperation in addressing environmental crises, from climate change to biodiversity loss.

Earthx2024: A Global Platform for Environmental Collaboration

One of the bright spots of Earthx2024 was the 8th Annual E-Capital Summit, which convened more than 350 investors, early-stage and established innovators, and industry leaders under this year’s theme of “Sustainability Investing: Making the Business, Investment, and Political Case.” The invitation-only investment and business innovation forum showcased cutting-edge technology and production solutions designed to address climate mitigation, improve sustainability, and drive resilience. The summit connected a diverse mix of venture capitalists and growth equity investors, family offices, and corporate executives hailing from more than 10 countries and 30 states. From innovator workshops and curated connections to its signature start-up pitch competition and Investment Forum featuring 40 thought leaders, the E-Capital Summit represented an exciting and unique opportunity for the acceleration and amplification of sustainability-related solutions across several industry verticals.

Earthx2024 also launched the inaugural EarthX Family Office Summit, an intimate high-level event that convened family office principals committed to utilizing their wealth to scale environmental impact. From curated dinners to dynamic conversations, family office leaders experienced inspiring and meaningful connections. The summit concluded with a high-level fireside chat between Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Executive Chairman of the PVBLIC Foundation, and Hon. Prime Minister Siaosi ‘Ofakivahafolau Sovaleni from the Kingdom of Tonga. They discussed the Family Offices for Sustainable Development (FOSD), an initiative to connect government leaders with family offices that was established by the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund and the PVBLIC Foundation, and the upcoming Pacific Island Forum (PIF), which is convening 18 Heads of State from the Pacific to build a framework that achieves regional resilience and prosperity. Hosted in Tonga at the end of August this year, the Prime Minister ended the session by personally inviting those family leaders in attendance to join him and FOSD at the PIF to explore public-private partnerships with governments on the frontlines of climate change.

A highlight of Earthx2024 was the surprise appearance of Frankie the Dino, the charismatic mascot of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) “Don’t Choose Extinction” campaign. As the official sponsor since its inception two years ago, EarthX has supported this impactful and creative initiative, which has garnered billions of views worldwide. The campaign features a memorable video where Frankie walks into the UN to deliver a powerful message about the urgency of climate action and the need to end fossil fuel subsidies. Frankie’s presence at Earthx2024 not only added a dynamic element to the event but also reinforced the critical message of taking immediate and substantive environmental action.

EarthxTV: Amplifying Environmental Messages on a Massive Scale

This year’s event also introduced a groundbreaking new feature: the EarthxTV stage. This platform highlighted key environmental leaders and their initiatives in front of a live audience, creating dynamic content that will be broadcast on EarthxTV. With distribution reaching over 40 million homes, the EarthxTV stage provided an unprecedented opportunity to amplify the urgent environmental messages discussed at the conference. It allowed participants to engage not just with those present, but with a global audience, spreading awareness and mobilizing action across continents. This addition marked a significant expansion in EarthX’s outreach efforts, leveraging media to inspire and educate on a massive scale.

Since 2011, Trammell S. Crow, the founder of EarthX, has been instrumental in shaping the movement headquartered in Dallas, Texas, into a global platform for environmental progress. His visionary approach has consistently focused on convening leaders from across the political spectrum and around the world to foster collaboration and find common ground.  Last year, Crow made a strategic decision to hire Rajan Singh as CEO, a move that has resulted in significant growth for the organization through strategic partnerships and an impact-driven focus. Singh, who provided high-level remarks at the UN Headquarters in Geneva last month during World Meteorological Day, has strengthened EarthX’s ties to the United Nations and positioned the organization as a powerful force for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Under Crow and Singh’s leadership, the attendee list at Earthx2024 was as distinguished as it was diverse, featuring eleven UN Ambassadors from island nations across the globe and a bipartisan group of Republican and Democratic elected officials representing constituents around the country. This blend of high-level participation underscored the universal recognition of environmental issues and the need for collaborative action across all levels of governance and geography. Earthx2024 proved to be a watershed moment for EarthX as its commitment to inclusive dialogue and action has propelled the organization to the forefront of the international environmental discourse.
