This marks a notable increase from 18% in 2023, with 47% certified mass balance materials, translating to around 33% renewable sources, and an additional 3% from segregated sustainable sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>CEO Niels B Christiansen<\/strong> emphasized, \u201c2024 was an exceptional year for the LEGO Group and we are very pleased with our strong performance. We achieved record top- and bottom-line results even as we accelerated spending on strategic priorities, including a significant increase in the purchases of sustainable raw materials.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reducing-carbon-footprint\">Reducing Carbon Footprint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To further its environmental goals, LEGO actively reduced carbon emissions at its factories. Key actions included phasing out natural gas heating in Denmark, installing geothermal energy in Hungary, and expanding solar energy capacity in China, Czech Republic, and Denmark by 43%. These investments are expected to significantly reduce emissions and support the company&#8217;s science-based targets in coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-positive-impact-on-future-generations\">Positive Impact on Future Generations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to environmental sustainability, the LEGO Group expanded its social impact, benefiting over 12 million children worldwide through product donations and educational initiatives based on play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Niels B Christiansen<\/strong> said, <em>\u201cPlay is more important than ever, and we were happy to see the UN General Assembly adopt an International Day of Play to champion children\u2019s right to play.
