David Sadek, Vice President, Research, Technology & Innovation, Thales

David Sadek has spent much of his career working on technologies designed for environments where reliability and trust are critical.

As Vice President for Research, Technology & Innovation at Thales, his remit includes information processing, algorithms, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He joined the group in 2017 after senior research roles at Institut Mines-Télécom and Orange, bringing decades of experience in AI and cognitive technologies into one of Europe’s leading strategic technology companies. 

His career began well before today’s AI boom.

At Orange, Sadek created and led R&D teams working on intelligent agents and natural human-machine dialogue for more than 15 years. His research helped produce some of the earliest technological implementations of conversational agents and contributed to standards for communication between intelligent software agents. He later served as Vice President for Research at Orange and Director of Research at Institut Mines-Télécom. 

Today, that background informs a much broader mandate.

At Thales, Sadek helps shape research and technology strategy across fields that increasingly sit at the intersection of commercial innovation and strategic capability — from trusted AI and advanced algorithms to quantum computing.

The Distinction

Sadek’s significance lies in the environments in which those technologies must operate.
